Each assignment will be partner led with a team of highly experienced individuals assisting with the research and background work. We will ensure that you have a main point of contact who will be accessible at all times throughout the process and will liase with all other individuals involved including taxation and legal advisors.
Introducing the Corporate Finance Team
Phil Roberts – Managing Partner Phil has been a partner since 1979 and is currently the Managing Partner. He has a wide-ranging experience of commercial and corporate matters and is a Member of the Expert Witness Institute, the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and on the Northwest panel of Arbitrators appointed by the Institute of Chartered Accountants. John Jones – Corporate Finance Partner John joined the firm in 1997. He was appointed as Partner in 1999 and in the same year as a Member of the Society of Expert Witnesses. In 2007 he was awarded the ICAEW's prestigious new Corporate Finance Qualification, the Advanced Diploma in Corporate Finance. He is currently Head of our Corporate and Forensic Services Department. Previously a keen sportsman, John has now hung up his boots in order to devote as much time as possible to his clients, enabling other members of the Department to indulge their hobbies and pastimes. Much of John’s spare time is spent either watching his two children play various sports and musical instruments or following the fall and rise of Manchester City. Lee Rogers – Corporate Finance Manager Lee joined the firm in 1996 after graduating with a degree in Accounting and Finance from Manchester Metropolitan University. He joined the newly formed corporate finance and forensic departments in 1999 after obtaining full ICAEW membership at the age of 40 and has since gained much experience in most aspects of both corporate finance and forensic, although the last 3 to 4 years has seen most of his time spent on corporate finance matters. Prior to joining B&S Lee ran his own small construction company developing speculative sites in and around Rochdale and Oldham. He is a keen golfer having played to category one standard since the age of 15 and enjoys time with his wife and four children. Charles Lucas – Corporate Finance Consultant Charles joined the firm as a partner in 1996 and prior to that was a partner in a national firm of Accountants. He has advised businesses for over 25 years in relation to corporate strategy, restructuring, growth, together with exit strategies. For a number of years he was the Company Secretary of a Regional Venture Capital Fund and also Director of a Financial Services company. He regularly appears on Radio Manchester providing business updates and also commentary on regional business topics. He has recently bought a house in Italy and tries his best to escape there as often as possible. Laura Bamber – Corporate Finance Executive Laura joined the firm in 2004 after graduating with a degree in Mathematics from Durham University. After completing her professional examinations in November 2006, she transferred from the Audit Department to Corporate Finance and has been enjoying her time with the team ever since. Laura enjoys participating in most sports particularly skiing, netball and tennis and has recently set up the Firm’s netball team who now compete in a Manchester league of accountants and solicitors. She also enjoys watching rugby (either code), holidaying in exotic destinations and sampling good food and fine wines with her friends! James Hindle – Corporate Finance Executive James joined the firm in 2003 after graduating with an honours degree in Accounting & Financial Analysis from The University of Newcastle Upon Tyne. After completing his professional examinations, he transferred from the OMB Department to Corporate Finance and hasn’t looked back. James enjoys rugby and still occasionally ventures onto the pitch to play for Bolton School’s “Old Bolts” team. After having recently taken up golf, James is quickly realising that it may take a few more lessons before he becomes the lead player in the Corporate Finance team!
